Description

Are you the ones that left a note on our door? Wondering if we would like to sell our vintage cottage? Are you aware it has much larger square footage than what you see from the curb? Welcome to the Ledford-Colley House. Please go to our blog to see the full restoration. https://theledford-colleyhouse.blogspot.com/ When we purchased the home in 2011 it was not habitable. There was no plumbing, no proper electricity and the structure rested on stone pillars. When you entered there was no floor. Today, fully restored, you will witness craftsmanship from the past (square peg nails, unique cross wainscoting, wavy glass windows, original wood floors and milk paint on the walls.) The original dual faced fireplace that separates the living room from the kitchen had deteriorated. We were able to obtain handmade bricks and chinking to revive the fireplace and its warmth is enjoyed each winter. Typical of historical housing, the front room/parlor we use as a formal dining room but it would be suitable for an owners suite due to its size and location on the main level. The entry/hallway and staircase separate the living room and flow easily into the modern day kitchen. The past worlds charms are still incorporated here with the wooden topped island, sourced locally which compliment the soapstone counters. Notice the abundance of cabinets, open shelving, panty and wine/coffee bar. The back of the structure has been renovated into a useful laundry, full bath and storage. Meander upstairs to find the landing/office area. The true discovery for this home was the attic space that had never been accessed and the bonus of a stash of heart pine boards which we milled into flooring. We added two additional bedrooms and a full bath, where there had not been one upstairs. Surprisingly, the bedrooms are generous in size and accommodate, king size beds or two standard size beds. More? So much to share, irrigation systems for landscaping and the old stones that were the original foundation were repurposed into stone walls in the landscaping. The gentle three acres offers a forested backdrop and with clearing would provide a nice view of the base of Yonah Mountain. By the way Yonah Vineyards is just down the road. This well loved, unique homestead is just right for an owner who wants something special loaded with character and history.
